The Passover
“This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you …” (Exodus 12:2 – KJV)
The Passover was to be held in the “beginning of their months,” which corresponds with our March/April. I believe this is similar to when an Individual comes to Christ it is the “beginning,” it’s a “new start,” even as the Passover was to be held in the beginning of months!
A lamb (which was a type of Christ’s Great Sacrifice –Heb. 10:1-10) had to be chosen without “spot or blemish.” The Lamb had to be inspected minutely for 4 days from the 10th to the 14th of the month with the flesh being laid open at the backbone and examined for any slight discoloration. Are you not glad saints of God that the burden of decision did not fall on you, but rather as Abraham prophesied, “That the Lord Himself will provide a lamb for an offering?” It is only the Lord who is able to pick a perfect Sacrifice, and that Sacrifice is none other than Himself! Praise God!
The Lamb was to be roasted with fire, (which typified the Judgment of God that would fall on Christ) and eaten with unleavened bread (spoke of the perfection of Christ), and with bitter herbs (bitterness of their sufferings). Let me state here that the beauty of Christ’s perfection is able to replace the bitterness of your sin and bondage, and give you Joy unspeakable and full of Glory!
Dear believer in Christ- Look away from your ten thousand failures, and look to Him and His perfection! Paul said, “He who knew no sin (perfection) became an offering for sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor. 5:21)
The Israelite's were to eat the Passover lamb in haste (expectation) looking for God’s deliverance from Egypt even as we partake in communion anticipating our gathering together unto the Lord (i.e. The Rapture), which could take place at any moment (1 Cor. 11:26). Are you looking for God’s deliverance?
The Scripture says: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” – 1 Thess. 4:16-18 - KJV
In the Passover we see that the Sacrifice of Christ provided us with a new beginning, a new start, a new life, beauty for ashes, and an expectation of an eternal inheritance when our Lord Jesus returns!
God’s Luv & Best to you! In Christ – Clint
