I AM THAT I AM

“And God said unto Moses I AM THAT I AM…” (Exodus 3:14 – KJV)
In Exodus Chapter 3, we are shown God’s revelation of Himself to Moses, a revelation that Israel had never known previously. All through the Old Testament, we see God revealing Himself to His people by the use of certain names. When these names are revealed it was for a certain purpose, and that purpose was to let them know that God is able! God revealed Himself to Israel as El, or Elohim which means, “the Strong One.” To Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He revealed Himself almost exclusively as El-shaddai which means “the All Sufficient One,” or, “God the Omnipotent,” and YHVH, translated many times as Yahveh, or Jehovah, which means the “Self- existent One.” In other words all things depend on Him, and are held together by Him! Israel would need to know this, and so do we! Israel was enslaved and helpless, and needed a greater revelation of who God was as each and every one of us do. The Lord proceeded to tell Moses that wonderful name - “I AM That I AM.”
The famous commentator George Williams said of this name: "I Am’ was given to Israel as a blank check, so that she could write after these two words whatever her need demanded. For example, she needed a deliverer, and at once she had the answer, ‘I Am the Deliverer’; she needed a comforter, and once again came the response, ‘I Am the Comforter’; when provision was needed, her faithful God says, ‘I Am the Provider.' The One who spoke this name to Moses was none other than Jesus Christ Himself! Have you never recognized the frequency with which our Lord says, “I AM”? He said in John:
“I am the Bread of Life" (John 6:35, 48)
“I AM the Light of the World” (John 8:12, 9:5). “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). “I AM the Door” (John 10:9). “I AM the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11). “I AM the Resurrection and the Life” (John 11:25). “I AM the Way, the Truth, the Life” (John 14:6). “I AM the True Vine” (John 15:1).
Let all saints everywhere understand that the I AM THAT I AM of Israel is our I AM….whatever you need, Jesus Christ is saying, I AM! To the sick, the I AM is your healer. To those in financial need, the I AM is your blessing. To those caught up in the storms of life, the I AM will speak and say, “Peace, be still.” To the hungry, the I AM is our bread; to the thirsty, the I AM is the pure water of life; and whosoever drinks of the water of I AM will never thirst again. The I AM is the sinner’s Saviour and the Christian’s blessed hope. The I AM is the King of kings and the Lord of lords; the I AM has everything we need. The I AM has said, “This is My name forever!!!”
God’s Luv & Best to you! In Christ – Clint
